SUNSET PARK
Sunset Park is nestled in rural Londonderry Township next to Sunset Golf Course and is a great place to hold your family, church or company picnic. There are three pavilions available for rent. For the smaller group there are two pavilions which hold 50 people each, and for the larger group we have a pavilion that holds up to 150 people. Each pavilion is equipped with charcoal grills, lights and electric. Centrally located is a men’s and ladies restroom, as well as portable facilities placed throughout the park.
Within the park there are four beautifully maintained baseball/softball fields, three playgrounds, horseshoe pits, bocce ball courts, a beach volleyball court and a basketball court. There is also a nature trail that wanders through the wooded area of Sunset Park.
Londonderry Bocce Ball League
Londonderry Township has its own Bocce League which just completed a second successful year. Bocce is similar to lawn bowling; however, it is played on official courts which are located at Sunset Park. The league had four teams that played on a Tuesday at 9 a.m. and another four teams at 6 p.m., with a total of 32 players, plus 20 substitute players. A team consists of four persons, ages 16 years and up. Open bocce or non-league play will continue through the month of September at the same time. Persons interested in giving bocce a try, please call Louise Morgan at 944-6518.
Londonderry Horseshoe Pitching Association
The Londonderry Horseshoe Pitching Association sponsors a league which runs from May through August. Games are played at 6:30 p.m. on a Monday at Sunset Park for 16 weeks. Players play as a team made up of two people, but they keep individual scores to determine highest
