Purpose

This page has been developed to help residents understand the process and changes that are currently in process with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on revisions to and publication and adoption of revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) also known as "Floodplain Maps" and required changes and updates to Township regulations and policies as a result of the processes undertaken by the Federal government. 

What is the Timeline ?

This process has been going on for several years at the State and Federal level. The Township began to be involved with the process in June of 2025 and is now able to provide further information to the public on the remaining processes.

What is "Comment" vs "Appeal" ?

Comment:
Comments are generic in nature and are specific to the proposed maps. Comments can be specific to a specific property in the township or about the maps generally. Please use the form below to submit comments on the map and be sure include an image from the mapping tools on this page so the comment can be documents properly for FEMA and PEMA.

Comments are being taken until July 27th, 2026 in order to comply with submission deadlines to the federal and state agencies.

Appeal:
Appeals are specific to a property in the township that the property owner believes is improperly reflected on the map. Appeals MUST be filed through the Township via a formal LOMR (Letter of Map Revision) or LOMA (Letter of Map Amendment) and be supported with various forms of data. If you believe that your property could be subject to an appeal of the proposed map(s), please contact the Township Codes Office.

Where can I view the new maps ?

The federal government has provided two mapping tools for online viewing of the new maps. One option is a high level view that shows the changes generally in terms of floodplain "increase" or "decrease" generally. The other is a more detailed option that provides more specific on the various floodplain and floodway changes proposed.

Where can I view the new Ordinance ?

The revising of the Townships Floodplain Ordinance is required as part of this process as part of Federal law. At this time there is no draft available for review and more information will be coming regarding this part of the process in 2027.
