Senior Services

V.I.P. Van Service

The V.I.P. is a van service for seniors, 65 and over, who are residents of Londonderry Township. The van provides transportation to and from doctor and hospital appointments as a priority. If available, other locations within Dauphin County for necessities such as trips to the grocery store or bank may be scheduled. The van is not handicapped accessible. Residents must be able to get in and out of the van without assistance. There is no charge for this service, however, donations are strongly suggested and appreciated to help with the cost of gas and upkeep of the van.

Please note, this van service is only possible through the efforts of volunteers. We are in desperate need of volunteers to take phone requests and to schedule drivers. We are also in need of volunteers to drive the van. You only need a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Both of these volunteer opportunities can fit anyone's schedule.

For more information, please call V.I.P. Van Service at 717-317-3402 between 10:00 a.m. and 12 Noon, Monday thru Friday. The van does not operate on weekends.

Meals-On-Wheels

The Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging provides a well-balanced hot meal for delivery to residents of Dauphin County who are assessed by the Agency's Care Management Unit as being frail, and/or home bound because of physical, mental, or emotional disability, and without a caregiver who is able to provide meals on a regular basis. Meals are delivered five days a week by volunteers who observe the well-being of the home bound individual receiving the meal.

The volunteers are recruited by our local “Meals-on-Wheels” organization. Recipients are encouraged to make a voluntary contribution toward the cost of the meals according to their financial ability.

To request home delivered meals, please call the Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging at 717-780-6130.
